Of all people with Sickle Cell Anaemia, children have the highest Stroke risk. The risk is greatest between ages of two and sixteen. Children with Sickle Cell Disease are 300 times more likely than normal children to have a stroke. Of the children who have had a stroke and survived, 70% will have a second stroke and it usually occurs within 36 months of the first stroke.
Stroke is a medical emergency. There is a three-hour window of time for treatment. Act Fast!
